Welcome to Blend! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Blend mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service") operated by Blend Inc. ("we," "our," or "us").

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of these Terms, you may not access the Service.

1. Eligibility

To use Blend, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be legally able to enter into a binding contract
  • Not be prohibited from using the Service under applicable laws
  • Not have been previously banned from the Service
  • Not be required to register as a sex offender

By using Blend, you represent and warrant that you meet all eligibility requirements.

2. Account Registration

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. When you create an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Maintain and promptly update your account information
  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of your login credentials
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access

You may only have one active account. Creating multiple accounts may result in termination of all accounts.

3. Community Guidelines

Blend is committed to creating a safe, respectful environment for the ethical non-monogamy community. You agree to:

Be Authentic

  • Use your real photos that accurately represent your current appearance
  • Provide honest information about yourself and your relationship status
  • Only link partners who have consented to be linked
  • Not impersonate any person or entity

Be Respectful

  • Treat all users with respect and dignity
  • Accept "no" gracefully and do not pressure others
  • Respect others' boundaries, identities, and relationship structures
  • Communicate honestly and practice ethical non-monogamy principles

Stay Safe

  • Do not share personal contact information publicly
  • Report suspicious or harmful behavior
  • Meet in public places for first dates
  • Trust your instincts

4. Prohibited Conduct

You agree NOT to:

  • Harass or abuse: Engage in harassment, bullying, stalking, threats, or intimidation of any user
  • Post harmful content: Share content that is hateful, discriminatory, violent, illegal, or sexually explicit in public areas
  • Spam or scam: Send unsolicited promotional content, phishing attempts, or engage in fraudulent schemes
  • Violate privacy: Share others' personal information without consent, screenshot and distribute private conversations
  • Misrepresent yourself: Use fake photos, lie about age, relationship status, or other material information
  • Solicit money: Request money from other users or promote commercial services
  • Exploit minors: Share, request, or engage in any content or conduct involving minors
  • Circumvent safety: Attempt to bypass our safety features, bans, or security measures
  • Reverse engineer: Attempt to decompile, reverse engineer, or extract source code from the app
  • Automate: Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to access the Service
  • Commercial use: Use the Service for commercial purposes without our written consent

5. Partner Linking and Consent

Blend's partner linking feature requires explicit mutual consent:

  • You may only send partner link requests to individuals who have consented to receive them
  • Both parties must accept the link for it to be visible on profiles
  • Either party may unlink at any time without the other's consent
  • You are responsible for ensuring your existing partners consent to your use of Blend
  • Misrepresenting relationship status or partner consent is grounds for account termination

6. User Content

Your Content

You retain ownership of content you post to Blend ("User Content"). By posting User Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute your content in connection with the Service.

Content Standards

User Content must not:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation
  • Infringe on any third party's intellectual property rights
  • Contain nudity in public profile areas (photos, bio)
  • Include minors in any photos
  • Promote illegal activities
  • Contain malware, viruses, or harmful code

Content Removal

We reserve the right to remove any User Content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines, without prior notice.

7. Trust Scores and Vouching

Blend's trust system is designed to promote community safety:

  • Trust scores are based on various factors including verification, vouches, and account history
  • Vouches must be genuine and based on real-world knowledge of the person
  • False vouches or trust score manipulation is prohibited
  • Trust scores are informational only and do not guarantee safety
  • We do not guarantee the accuracy of any trust-related information

8. Events

Blend allows users to discover and create community events:

  • Event hosts are responsible for their events and attendee safety
  • Blend does not verify, endorse, or assume liability for user-created events
  • Events must comply with all applicable laws and these Terms
  • Commercial events require prior approval from Blend

9. Subscriptions and Payments

Free Features

Blend offers core features for free, including profile creation, matching, and messaging.

Premium Features

Additional features may be available through paid subscriptions ("Blend Premium"). Subscription terms:

  • Payments are processed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store
  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date
  • No refunds for partial subscription periods
  • Prices may change with notice to subscribers

Virtual Items

Blend may offer virtual items (e.g., "Super Likes," boosts). Virtual items:

  • Have no cash value and cannot be transferred or refunded
  • May expire if not used within specified timeframes
  • Are forfeited upon account termination

10. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content (excluding User Content), features, and functionality are owned by Blend Inc. and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Our trademarks may not be used without our prior written consent. Third-party trademarks belong to their respective owners.

11. Third-Party Services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for:

  • The content, accuracy, or practices of third-party sites
  • Any damage or loss caused by third-party content or services
  • Privacy practices of third-party sites

Your interactions with third-party services are governed by their respective terms and policies.

12. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
  • Results from using the Service will be accurate or reliable
  • Any matches, connections, or relationships will result from using the Service
  • Other users are who they claim to be

Blend does not conduct criminal background checks on users. You are responsible for taking precautions when interacting with other users.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BLEND SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Any loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
  • Any damages resulting from unauthorized access to your account
  • Any conduct or content of any third party or other user
  • Any content obtained from the Service

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to Blend in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Blend Inc., its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any rights of another person or entity
  • Your User Content

15. Dispute Resolution

Informal Resolution

Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at legal@blendapp.com and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.

Arbitration

Any dispute not resolved informally shall be resolved by binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. The arbitration shall be conducted in [Your State], unless otherwise agreed.

Class Action Waiver

You agree that any dispute resolution will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action.

Exceptions

Either party may seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual property infringement or unauthorized access to the Service.

16. Account Termination

By You

You may delete your account at any time through the app's Settings. Upon deletion:

  • Your profile will be removed from public view immediately
  • Your data will be deleted according to our Privacy Policy
  • Any unused subscription time or virtual items are forfeited

By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without cause or notice, for:

  • Violation of these Terms or Community Guidelines
  • Conduct that is harmful to other users or Blend
  • Fraudulent or illegal activity
  • Extended periods of inactivity

Terminated accounts may not be reinstated. Creating a new account after termination is prohibited.

17. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by:

  • Posting the updated Terms with a new effective date
  • Sending an email to your registered address
  • Displaying a notice in the app

Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

18. General Provisions

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of [Your State], without regard to conflict of law principles.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines, constitute the entire agreement between you and Blend.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.

Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.

Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our consent. We may assign our rights and obligations without restriction.
